As Birjand was a seat of Governors, there are many buildings reflecting the styles of their periods. Among them, the Akbariyeh Building and Garden, is beautiful and well-constructed. This garden is about 8000 square meters in three floors, and relates to the Zand to early Pahlavi periods. The oldest part is the eastern wing in two floors and built during Shaokatolmolk period. The decorations consist of Mirror hall, the dome, honeycomb plasterwork, etc. At present two museums and sociology, a traditional teahouse and traditional restaurant, workshops for learning traditional arts, etc are open to visitors.
