Tehran

Tehran is the capital of Iran, with a population of around 8.3 millions. It is the largest city, not only in Iran but also in western Asia. The 13th century, Tehran was a village of Rey city, then the major urban centre in the region. In the mid-16 century Tehran’s natural setting, many trees, clear rivers and good hunting brought it to the attention of  the early safavid king, Tahmasb I. BY 1795, Agha mohammad khan, (first king of Qajar) declared this town is his capital. As the centre of Qajar Persia, Tehran steadily expanded.  In the 20th century was one of the most-populous cities on earth.

Today It is fascinating to walk in the footsteps of that modern history: you can see the white Palace at Sa’ad abad; gaze up at the Azadi tower; and etc.

The city is home to many historic mosques, churches, synagogues and Zoroastrian fire Temples. However, modern structures, notably the Milad Tower, have come to symbolize the city.
